In short, Germany has at present dearer labour and dearercapital than England ; but it understands how to wedge itselfinto the world’s market, where not so much the advantages ofcentralised industry nor the skilled machine-labour come intoaccount, but rather where the superior technical, scientific, andart training of its middle classes is decisive.
